My name is Jonathan Aguilar, and I became a therapist because I believe no one should have to navigate the difficult waters of life alone. Throughout my experiences working with and supporting others, I saw firsthand how many people struggle with mental health concerns and how important it can be to have someone who listens, understands, and walks alongside them during difficult seasons of life. These experiences sparked my passion for counseling and my desire to create a space where people feel safe, understood, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward healing and growth.
Over the years, I have found a particular passion for working with trauma and understanding how our past experiences can continue to influence the way we think, feel, and respond in the present. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with trauma-focused therapies, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I believe therapy should be personalized to each individual, and I work collaboratively with clients to understand their experiences, identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop healthier ways of moving forward. My goal is to provide a compassionate, judgment-free environment where you can feel heard and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida and have been practicing as a therapist for four years. Through Still Waters Counseling and Therapy, I hope to provide a place where you can slow down, find clarity, and begin moving toward healing, hope, and lasting change.
For clients who desire it, I also offer an optional Christian counseling perspective, incorporating faith and biblical principles into the therapeutic process while respecting each client’s individual beliefs, values, and goals.
